Specialist Safeguarding Support for Therapy and the Arts

CHART brings particular knowledge and experience to organisations working across therapy, psychotherapy, music and the arts. This includes music schools, conservatoires, arts therapy and music therapy programmes, as well as related educational and professional settings.

Penny Rogers has an established reputation within the arts therapies sector, combining safeguarding, legal and therapeutic knowledge to support organisations working in complex professional environments.

Psychotherapists, Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Practitioners

CHART provides specialist safeguarding training and consultation for psychotherapists, clinical psychologists and psychological practttioners addressing the particular safeguarding, confidentiality and disclosure considerations of therapeutic practice. As a registered music therapist and systemic psychotherapist Penny brings her personal experiences both as a therapist and clinical supervisor into the training

Arts Therapists

CHART provides specialist safeguarding training for arts therapists, addressing the safeguarding considerations that arise within creative and arts-based therapeutic practice. Penny is a HCPC registered music therapist and a Trustee of the British Association of Music Therapy. She has been commissioned to provide safeguarding support to organisations such as Chroma; Drums & Brass; Richmond Music Therapy Trust and Music Therapy Works. Since 2023, Penny has been working in collaboration with the British Association of Music Therapy to deliver bespoke training to Music Therapists. The training offer through BAMT is also open to Arts Therapists. Penny has been commissioned by NHS providers such as Essex University Partnership Trust and East London Mental Health Trust to deliver bespoke training and has previously lectured on the interface between Safeguarding and the Arts Therapists on a number of the Music Therapy post-graduate trainings.

Music Organisations

As a cellist, I am keen to support music teachers and music organisations (from Saturday Morning Music Schools - working with children to Conservatories working with young adults and adults) to implement effective safeguarding systems and rainings for their staff . Those teaching music on a 1-1 basis may be vulnerable to false accusations; a tiny minority of those teaching will exploit their position of power and authority. Chart offers bespoke training directly aimed at the music industry.
